Root Canal Therapy

Often called endodontics, root canal therapy is the name given to treat infections that have reached deep into the tooth’s inner pulp.

When that’s the case, infections can very easily spread through the root canal system, causing abscesses, swelling, excruciating pain and a whole host of other unpleasant symptoms.

Without root canal treatment, you not only risk enduring pain for longer than necessary but may also risk eventual loss of the tooth.

Root Canal Therapy in Hartlepool

Our experienced endodontic team can soothe the pain with root canal treatment and stop infections from spreading while preserving as much of the natural tooth as possible.

The procedure is carried out under local anaesthetic and is no less comfortable than placing an ordinary filling.

During the procedure, our team will remove all of the infection from the tooth’s root canal before thoroughly cleaning and sealing the area to prevent further disease. We’ll then apply a temporary filling while the tooth heals.

At a return visit to the clinic, we’ll replace the temporary filling with a permanent crown and check that the tooth is completely clear of infection.

Endodontics is a professional discipline, and root canal treatment usually requires two or more visits. We also recommend keeping up with regular hygiene appointments afterwards to keep your oral health in great shape.
